The term “Baby Botox” has been on the rise for the past few years. It definitely does not include babies, for sure. So, what is it exactly and how is it different from the botox treatment that we know?
Baby botox was first coined in 2003 by Hollywood directors who complained that actors and actresses are left with frozen look due to botox treatment and therefore lack the range of facial expressions needed to act.
Baby botox has been practised by surgeons for years however, it was only recently that the term has gained traction.
Baby botox is a treatment that uses microinjection to targeted areas of the face. In short, it uses a lower amount of botox compared to standard treatment and can still effectively reduce wrinkles without compromising facial expressions. Generally, since less amount of botox is used, the probability that it will wear off quicker is also expected. The effect of the baby botox treatment will vary from patient to patient. It is not a one-size fit all treatment and must be tailored to the need of the individual. Ideally, baby botox is for younger patients and first-timers who want to prevent lines from becoming permanent.
The result will really depend on a lot of factors such as genetics, exposure and metabolism. However, if baby botox is not feasible and you can still see a lot of movement, a traditional botox treatment might be the best option.
