Hyperhidrosis treatment : BOTOX at London Centre for Aesthetic Surgery Gulf, Dubai and Harley Street London
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition in which a person sweats excessively and unpredictably. People who suffer from hyperhidrosis may sweat even in a cool temperature or they are at rest. This can be exacerbated in the summer or in hot cities like Dubai.
Sweating helps the body stay cool. It is normal to sweat in arm temperature, during exercise or in response to a situation that makes us nervous, afraid, embarrassed or afraid.
In some cases, sweating occurs even in a cool temperature or without such triggers. Those who suffer hyperhidrosis appears to have an overproduction of swear by the sweat glands. Hyperhidrosis usually occurs in the underarms, hands and feet. The uncontrollable sweating specially in the underarms which is very obviously seen can be very embarrassing.
Although many people suffer from hyperhidrosis, there are not many treatments available that are safe and effective. It can be a high risks surgical procedure or time consuming treatments.
One of the most effective, safe and quick treatment for hyperhidrosis is the use of the anti-wrinkle drug, Botox. Botox (botulinum toxin) is a purified protein that has the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the chemical called acetylcholine ( a chemical that carries the signals from the sympathetic nervous system to the eccrine sweat glands that stimulates the glands to produce sweat). By blocking or interrupting the signals, botox “turns off” sweating at the treated area temporarily. The effect of the botox to underarms , hands and feet may lasts from six months to one year.
Botox to the underarms, hands and feet will take place at our Dubai Healthcare City clinic and in Harley Street London clinic by our plastic surgeons, Drs Roberto and Maurizio Viel. In the case of botox to underarms, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied prior to the procedure. It is 45 minutes to 1 hour procedure. However, injecting to the hands and feet cam be more painful and Dr Maurizio Viel and Dr Roberto Viel recommend performing the botox treatment under a 20 minute sedation. It is not a general anaesthesia, and you can go home same day.
